Performer's rights on the web

The European Commission has submitted the proposed revision of the Directive on copyright and related rights on 14 September 2016. While welcoming the statements by its President, Jean-Claude Juncker, who is committed to providing artists and creators with the means to act and protect their work, it is very doubtful that it will welcome the European Commission's proposals. They do not contain the concrete measures needed to ensure modern and sustainable protection for artists.

It is now up to the European Parliament to ensure that the stated ambition for access to all European culture comes with the required protection for artists and the guarantee of fair remuneration through appropriate and modern means.

All European artists and performers demand the implementation of an inalienable right to remuneration subject to collective management.
